ABT Buggy 1
Buggies are for having fun!!!


At the 2005 WEROCK International we launched our ABT buggy.  We have racked up two 1st & two 2nds.

For those of you who have followed our business and website you will remember we gave you the scoop on the Spidertrax buggy.  Well now we go one better with an Australia first.

We reckon this is one sweet unit and will set the scene here in Oz.  The current prototype is a front engine single seater chassis that is built out of 1.5in DOM tube.

It sports some trick components such as:

Custom Chromoly Contol Arms
Whether it’s for a full custom tube buggy or your beloved Patrol, control arms are crucial to your suspensions reliability.  

A bent or broken control can be disastrous.  Therefore, you want to quality, strong and reliable control arms to keep you going especially if you are competing.

Previously we have used High Carbon 44mm diameter & 10mm wall hollow bar and bent it!!! And yes it was bent on a light weight vehicle.  Instances like this are amplified by weight and when there is only one suspension link taking the load ie 3 link.

Therefore, we now use either Chromoly 4140 44mm solid hex bar or tube.  Once you combine this with Chromoly rodends and/or 360’ swivel joints you can be assured your suspension is built for the extreme.  You will also have the welcomed benefits of rodend misalignment and bind free suspension from the 360’ swivel.

Depending on lengths and rodend/bushing combination prices start at $360

Custom Front Rockcrawling Bar
This bar has been designed for maximum clearance for approach angle while at the same time offering exceptional protection.  This bar has also had extra mounting holes added to ensure there is no possibility of the chassis holes elongating. To take advantage of the extra hole the chassis will need to be drill and crush tubed for the extra mountng bolts.

This particular bar is a winch bar made for a suzuki sierra.

Custom Links - Control arms etc
If you require a control arm, tie-rod or draglink for off-road use but you don't want to or don’t have the tools to deal with cutting and welding!  Well we can help you save time and money by making the links for you. And, if you want to save even more time & money we will press in pre-made threaded inserts and then weld them in for you.

To simplify things even more we sell matching Endura rod-ends with jam nuts. The Endura rod-end will not only simplify the setting up of the link or suspension it will provide you with adjustability, clearance for suspension links and welcomed misalignment.

For those that are DIYers we can simply provide the  bored bar, threaded inserts, misalignment washers and Endura rod-ends. The arms come in 1m and can be cut down 50mm per end still enabling enough bored section to cut and thread or press a threaded insert.

Due to the different lengths and options please note your requirements in special instructions section of the electronic order/cart and we will provide quotes based on requirements.

Endura Rodends
The QA1 Endura’s XM rodend series is considered as one of, if not the best rodends purpose built for motorsports.  Commonly used in 4 links and ladder bars the Endura rodends have features such as:

Endura Rodends

High Steer Arms
The M&M High Steer Arms are CNC machined from 4140 billet to our own design.  The King Pins are precisionally CNC machined with it's head drilled and tapped. Therefore, once the king pin has been pressed into the bottom of the arm a stud is screwed in tight from the top of the arm.

This design is superior in quality to it's competitors particularly cast designs.  Using billet eliminates the pitfalls of casting for example casting can cause small cavities which only become visible if you were to break the arm or do a cut away of it.  These imperfections lead to weak points in the arms and ultimately failure.  Therefore, running bigger tyres and/or hydro steering will expose the cast’s weak link.  

With our design the tapered stud & the tie-rod end holes are machined to ensure the precision fitting of the studs, cone washers and tie-rod ends.  If the fit is not precise (as possible in cast) the slack/play will lead to the studs and or the tie-rod to shear off and therefore potential disaster.  However, we do recommend with any design to periodically check the studs & tie-rod for play to ensure they are tight.

High Steer Arms

High Steer Kit
What is our high steer kit:

- Our high steer kits consist of our high steer arms and our custom made draglinks and tie-rods.  The tie-rods & draglinks are made from 1.75inch 4140 chromoly hex bar and drilled & tapped to suit the required rod-end.  This kit will transform the strength, performance and look of your trucks steering.

Why have a high steer kit – performance, design & strength:

 - Note these are in addition to positives noted in the High Steer Arm section (High Steer Arm Link)

 - The high steer kit will lift your venerable tie-rod out of harms way while at the same time improving your draglinks steering geometry for better handling.  When you lift your truck the steering performance suffers because your draglink’s working angle increases plus it becomes too short resulting in bump steer and loss of steering lock respectively. Lifting and making a custom length tie-rod & draglink will eliminate these issues.
Should your tie-rod or draglink take a hit or for that matter have the truck suspended off it you can be assured due to the quality of material and components used your steering will easily hand the punishment. 
 
Conclusion, no more bent tie-rods and poor handling.

Spidertrax Spider 9 Ultimate 60 Full Steer Diff
Although normally sold in individual parts by Spidertrax, we are selling this as a Full Front parts kit.  Ok what you will get, unit bearings, Willwood brakes, custom rotors, axle seals, custom 50 degree knuckles, custom inner C, alluminium hat and Spider 9 housing. You will need to get axles, diff centre and u-joints to complete all the parts for the diffs.

Note there is not doubting the sucess of these diff as they are the choice off all the champion rockcrawlers in the  US such as Jesse Haines, winner of the W.E.ROCK Eastern U.S. Nationals in Rausch Creek, PA. On day two of this event, Jesse proves 50° of steering, possible with Spidertrax Ultimate 60 Knuckles, can make a big difference in the end.

There is simply no knuckle on the market as innovative as the upcoming Spidertrax Ultimate 60 Knuckle. Spidertrax have prototyped two versions of this knuckle for  sevral years now. Although both worked well in our field testing, the second prototyped version (V2) has received our stamp of approval and have made its way into final production . The V2 knuckle design works with Spidertrax 1 Ton Unit Bearings. Some key advantages of the V2 design are:

Light Weight - This knuckle blow away the competition when it comes to weight. Our complete knuckle set (inner & outer for both sides) sits at 57 lbs., roughly 2.5 times less weight then OEM style 60s! Don't confuse weight for strength either. With over 3 years of competition testing, these knuckles are every bit as strong as OEM and other aftermarket 60 knuckles.

Compact Design - This knuckle hugs the u-joint tighter then any OEM or aftermarket design currently on the market. This allows for a more compact setup while achieving an impressive 50° of steering angle.

Serviceability - The use of a spherical ball & race combo eliminates the bulk and weakness of standard ball joint setups and provides a much simpler package then kingpins. These spherical setups are designed specifically for axial loading (8000 lbs. ea. / 16,000 lbs. per knuckle!) and can handle plenty of punishment. Plus the use of two 3/4" shoulder bolts per knuckle allows for easy assembly and disassembly.

Cost - Laser cut, high precision CNC & formed steel eliminates the common high price tag on casted knuckles. Estimated target price is under $US1000 for a complete set of inner and outer knuckles with spherical ends and hardware (both sides)!

This Spider 9 housing is designed to work with centered and most all pinion offsets. At 65" in length, the Spider 9 housing tubes can be cut down to fit most all, front & rear, trail rig applications.

The all new Spider 9 axle housing is the product of over three years of hard engineering and real world testing. With rock crawling specifically in mind, this housing is nothing like your ordinary 9" housing. With ultra-high ground clearance, one piece shell construction, and compact size, this is the ONLY 9" housing built ground-up specifically for rock crawling. Six popular setups available.  All Spider 9 Axle Housings are 65†long (plenty of axle tube to cut to size) and are available with forward engine third member orientation or mid-engine third member orientation (as used in mid-engine competition rock crawlers). All housings are designed to work with Ford 9†style third members. Third member mounting hardware and filler cap assembly included. • Single piece, ¼†thick, compact shell design provides more strength than any other OEM or aftermarket 9†housing center. Welded both inside and out for added protection.
